Fun in February

February is over- hurrah for one more month down of us being stuck at home with Garrett!  And I am so very grateful that we have had such a great month, with lots of things going on, to distract us (me especially) from feeling cooped up all the time.  Here are a few more fun pictures from our fabulous month:
Yeah for fun presents - I am going to be able to make lots of cute things with these!
Every night before bed we read with Tori from the Book of Mormon and then we have started reading a little out of the storybook version of the Book of Mormon.  She loves it and has now started "reading" it to herself!
What a fantastic hat- whenever she wears it I always think of a beaver hat!
I love it when Tori helps me with laundry!  This time she helped out by trying on my pants....
and Daddy's shirt.  I think she was doing some quality control to make sure they were really clean!
Pike High School had another homecoming-ish week this month centered around a basketball game (instead of football like in the fall).  This meant another week of dressing up for Jared.  Sadly, we only had stuff for him to dress up a couple of days- but he still did an awesome job on those days.  Here is his 'Senior Citizen Day' outfit- and yes, he wore the slippers all day!!!
This was a combination day for Jared.  The official dress up was 'college day,' but he also made it his 'crazy hair day' to support his swimmers.  The boys' team had sectionals that night and Jared totally surprised them by showing up with a Mohawk- they loved it!!!
Tori's hair is getting so long- we have been having lots of fun with it lately! (Thanks for the fun idea Heidi!)
I love cuddling and reading books with my two kiddos!!! (As a side note- I love that this picture was taken in February with Tori wearing her Halloween pjs and Garrett in his Christmas pjs!)
Yeah for some tummy time!
Garrett had lots to tell during tummy time!!!
Workin' hard!
Garrett is starting to make some crazy noises!!!
Whenever Tori sees Garrett like this she says, "eating hands!" They sure must taste good!!!
Tori is getting to be an awesome sharer- and even better, she is sharing with Garrett!!!
One day I decided it would be a grand idea to put Prince outside to play while I mopped the kitchen- oh boy was that a bad idea! Caught him red handed- or muddy pawed!!!
Here he is in all his muddy glory!
Maybe Prince just wanted to make sure he got a bath- he did look so much better when we were done!!!
February has been wonderful, but I am really looking forward to March!  We get to have family visit us and we get to go visit family!  And it is our last month of RSV season- in April Garrett gets to be just like a normal kid and go wherever he wants!!!

The Many Faces of Garrett

Our little guy is getting to be quite expressive with his facial expressions!  Looking back over the past couple of months, I realized that we have captured many fabulous looks from Garrett.  Some of them are begging for a subtitle, and others just had to be included in the collection.  I hope you enjoy the many faces of Garrett Jones Allen!!!
I wish I knew what he was thinking!
Oh, such a sad face!
Just chillin'!
Okay, I'll smile a little bit!
I love this boy's smile!!!
Mr Cool himself!!!
There it is again- I can't get over this smile!!!
Yep, just hangin' out with my ball...
and loving every second of it!
It really looks like he is trying to hold it together and not cry!
Oh- how that pouty face tugs at my heart!
What a happy little boy!
Yeah- Garrett sticks his tongue out just like Tori did when she was little! (And for that matter, Jared and I did, too!!!)
Yeah, right!!!
Oh, dear...
we are getting much better at the pouty face around here!!! (This is one of my new favorites!)
What can I say, I love this little guy no matter the expression- I'll take them all!!!

Sit Up to Timber

Garrett is not quite ready to sit up on his own- but he is getting pretty close!  With Jared home today for President's Day, we had plenty of time to practice!
I can just imagine Garrett yelling, "HELP!!!"
Oh no, starting to lose the balance...
and, TIMBER!!!
Doing much better this time around!
And here is the whole thing in action:
I have a feeling our little guy is going to have this down in no time!!!

Play Time

In the past few weeks, Garrett has been discovering his toys and how much fun it is to play with them!  His rings were the first favorites!
They are really easy to hold on to...
And they taste great too!!!
His snail helps him get through the torture of tummy time!
Check it out- Garrett's first time playing with a rattle!!!
I love that Tori makes sure she is there to help just in case!
A ring and his ladybug- hurrah!!!
He is always so captivated by his seahorse!
Sometimes the best toys of all are your fingers!!!
Having a ball!

Hurrah for playtime! (I love how Tori is absolutely delighted that Garrett is happy when he plays!!!)
Garrett's valentine's day ball was a big hit from the start and is still one of his favorites!!!
It is so much fun watching our little guy become more aware and more interactive with the things around him!!!

Tori's Pictures

The nursery leaders in our ward love to use pictures of the nursery kids for the bulletin board displays.  This little gem was taken on one of Tori's very first Sundays in nursery, about a year ago now, and has been gracing the board ever since.  If you look really close you can even see a tear on her cheek- guess we weren't so happy to be there that day!  I'm so glad they sent this home with her for us to treasure!!!
We are starting to get quite a collection of Tori's artwork.  I figured we were doing her a disservice by keeping these to ourselves.  So, here is their debut to her adoring public!
Tori loves coloring in nursery!!!
And she is getting to be quite adept at sticker placement!
Who knows- we may have a future Picasso on our hands!

Siblings

When I was expecting Garrett, I had a few people ask me who I wanted him to look like - Jared or me.  My response was always the same, I didn't really care which of us he looked like, but I really wanted Tori and Garrett to look like they belonged in the same family.  You be the judge, but I think I got my wish...
Here is Tori at 4 months of age:
And Garrett at 4 months: (By the way, it kills Jared to have Garrett in a pink chair. Oh well- real men wear, or can sit in pink, right?!)

Tori's Latest Adventures

Tori is going through a phase where she is learning and changing so much- it seems like there is something new to report to Jared everyday!  I wanted to make sure I recorded some of the fun and quirky things she is doing so we don't forget!  Recently, Tori has become fascinated with taking off her clothes.  And putting them on, too, but mostly taking them off.  And she finds it especially fun to take off her pajamas after we put her to bed.  So, when we go in to check on her we often find her like this (note the pj's at the bottom of the picture)...
We usually chuckle a little, perhaps take a picture, and then get her dressed again.  Well, a few nights she has upped the ante.  Not only had she taken her pj's off, but her diaper as well.  We have started putting a onesie on under her pajamas until we get this potty training thing down (which is going nowhere fast!!!).
Here is a fun fort she made out of her blanket one day during nap time- I often wonder how much sleep she actually gets during nap time!!!
Another thing Tori is into is making sure everything is "warm"- and to accomplish this she covers things up with a blanket.  Yep, her princesses were very warm!!!
I love watching Tori's process of getting things warm!
She really loves getting her toys and herself warm in our bed!!!
This is how Tori shares her toys with whomever we happen to be chatting with over Skype!
Jared and I love watching Tori get so excited to talk with our families over Skype- and she really likes showing off all the fun things she is learning!!!
A blog about Tori's new things would not be complete without mentioning some of the great, and sometimes really funny, things she is starting to say!  When we are looking for a certain toy, she will start to look under things and either say "hiding," or "I don't see it!"  I love it when she reminds us about "Garrett's yucky vitamins!"  The other day at church, Tori took Jared by the hand and ran down the hall saying "this ways." She headed right for nursery!!!  One of my absolute favorites is how she says goodbye to Prince when we come upstairs.  She usually says something along the lines of, "bye Prince, see you later, love you!"
Tori has recently discovered the word happy. So, now when we are all together she will say, "Baby Brother happy, Mommy happy, Daddy happy, Prince happy!" I am glad we are such a happy family :)"good deal" and "sorry Charlie!" And last, but certainly not least, are the Fancy Nancy inspired words and phrases she has added to her vocabulary (we read her Fancy Nancy book at least twice a day!) Tori now loves to say, "ta da, aroma (although she thinks the boy's name in the book is aroma), delectable, wait some more, happen, and fancy neighbor!"  Thanks Fancy Nancy (and Aunt Krista, Uncle Willie, Parker Lincoln, and Henry) for introducing some fantastic words into our home!!!
It really seems so crazy that Tori is now 2 and a half- where has the time gone?  I sometimes wish I could just freeze time, but I also love sharing the days with her and all of her fun new adventures!!!
