Here we are on day one getting ready to leave our house. Tori and Garrett were all set and ready to go!
We had a snack break in Shelbina, MO and lucked out to find this great spot with lots of grass.
There was plenty of room to run around!!!
So glad we threw in the balls!
And then Garrett found some mud! (Check out his shoes!)
It got a little rough at the end of our drive, especially for Garrett. But we finally made it to our first hotel in St. Joseph, MO. The kids had a grand time jumping on the beds!
This kid was so glad to be out of the car!
We ended up having a picnic dinner in our hotel room and all of us were in bed by 7:30 pm. Today we traveled through the rest of Indiana, Illinois, and almost all of Missouri!Day 2: Tori and Garrett decided to wake up at 5:30, so we were all up, dressed, had breakfast, and were on the road again by 7:45 am.
Our two early risers ready to start our long day of driving!
We took so many breaks today. During one of them (near York, NE) we looked over to see Tori constructing something. When asked what it was, she said, "the place where Jesus died." (Sometimes we are amazed at the things she picks up!)
We also found some really neat rocks to play on!
Just chillin' in the car- the sunglasses were a fantastic distraction!!!
Grandpa Allen was able to get us a free night at the Fairfield Inn in Laramie, Wyoming and it was so nice!!! Once again, Tori and Garrett were beyond glad to get out of the car and loved jumping on the beds. The arrangement tonight was even better for said activity with the roll away bed!
Tori was tickled to pieces with her special bed!!!
We had another picnic dinner and then went down to swim for a bit. I think this is the farthest Tori ever made it in!
Daddy and Garrett having a great time in the pool!
We were all so tired that we didn't swim for very long. And I think both kids were asleep in less than 2 minutes once we laid them down for the night! Today we left Missouri, drove across Nebraska, and into Wyoming!Day 3: Only 6 hours left before we get to Logan- hurrah! We stopped for lunch in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming! (It was really windy!)
And then we made sure to make the traditional Harrison (now Allen) stop at Little America for 50 cent ice cream cones!
The boys even got to ride a buffalo!
Tori and Garrett were great navigators and made sure we stayed on the right road at all times!!!Our route today took us through Logan Canyon- it was so beautiful! We made it to Grandpa and Nana Harrison's house late this afternoon! Hurrah for the end of our driving and especially for being with family!!!
