Yesterday morning, Nikki proposed a new Allen family plan! The basic gist is that we will all sell our current homes, or get out of leases, buy a beach house together, and live off the land. This would entail having a huge garden and fishing to feed ourselves. She also figured in that we could use the fish we catch to barter for other necessities. It sounded like such a great idea that we got right to work!
Douglas and Dillon went to get the fishing poles out!
Douglas was one happy fisherman!
No fish were caught. But we noticed that our neighbor across the way was out fishing all morning long. So, Jared and Douglas made a new friend and he gave them some fishing pointers. He even let Jared and Douglas fish with him for a bit!
Grayson joined in the effort to help his Daddy!
We learned that night fishing is pretty productive. So, last night we gave it a shot! Check out Nikki the fisherwoman- she caught two fish!
Aunt Michelle was pretty fantastic at catching fish as well- she also reeled in two!
Sadly, this ended up being a kind of fish you can't eat. Something about a barb that releases poison- not quite sure. Anyways, this poor little guy swallowed the hook. We disposed of him in the most humane method possible. The thump was a little unnerving!
The pole Jared and I were sharing had some technical difficulties!
While we did finally catch a few of the fish you can eat, but not enough to sustain our whole clan. I still love the family plan, but think we might need a little more practice before we can live off the land. Any advice would be most welcome!!!
