Houston Museum of Natural Science

Today's adventure took us to the Houston Museum of Natural History! Now, if you look at that title and think 'boring'- then you have never been to a science museum with a Science Teacher. It was so much fun being there with Jared! He knew so much, so instead of having to read all the little plaques, he was able to walk us through very much like a guided tour! We had a wonderful time and learned a bunch as well!!!
We started out in the Butterfly Garden. We ended up with several identification guides so we could find as many different kinds of butterflies as possible!
The vegetation was so beautiful and there were butterflies everywhere!
Tori found one!
And so did Garrett!
Garrett's ritual whenever he spotted a butterfly- so fun watching him!
This kid got really good at finding those butterflies!
The butterfly garden was so beautiful!
Tori  loved the waterfall area of the garden!
It's not everyday that you get to sit next to a butterfly!
After seeing tons of butterflies, we stepped back in time! Tori was fascinated!!!
On our way to see some scary dinosaurs!!!
Garrett really liked this guy!
Tori thought this fossil was awesome!
So, the original plan was to take a picture where it looked like T. rex was going to eat Linken. That quickly changed as Linken grabbed on to T. rex's teeth. As the entire skeleton started to sway, every adult in our group had a heart attack moment.  Once we were sure the skeleton wasn't going to fall, we were all waiting for security to escort us out of the building. But, nobody came to find us. Either no one saw us, or things like that happen much more often that you would think! (It did make for a pretty cool picture- Linken's not afraid of anything!)
I didn't get pictures during the rest of our wanderings- it was pretty crazy on the lighting. But we were able to see so many neat things. We saw gorgeous crowns and jewelry, along with amazing gemstones- Tori loved those areas! And we visited places like Africa and Egypt, to name a few. And there were so many things we didn't have time to see- maybe next time!
Our tired crew of explorers- learning so much can definitely wear you out!
Hurrah for a fun day at the Science Museum!!!
