Ice Storm 2011- Day 2

Or as they are calling it - Snowpocalypse (catchy name isn't it)!!! All last night and into the wee hours of the morning we continued to get freezing rain and just a little bit of snow. Once we got our garage door to open (it took a couple of tries), we were met with this - about 2 inches of solid ice on our driveway!
As Jared demonstrated, our ice skating rink can now include our entire yard...
Since it is bitterly cold today, we decided to keep our pink ninja inside!
While this storm has been crazy, and may not be over yet, it has brought about some good things as well. With a lot of our neighbors stuck at home like us, we have finally gotten to meet some of them. This morning Jared was helping one of our neighbors try to thaw out their satellite dish so their kids would have something to keep them entertained. They ended up using our garden hose, hooked it to the neighbor's kitchen sink, and then squirted hot water at the dish on their roof. I'm not sure how well it worked, but it seemed like a pretty ingenious idea to me! This afternoon we met another neighbor who was so nice to help us break up the ice on our driveway. He even let Jared use his very hand ice pick tool!
Even though it was so cold, he stuck around until we were all done- we definitely owe him some cookies!!!
Here is the driveway after we were done!
And here are pictures of the ice we had to chop up and then shovel off the driveway!
I think I am ready for Spring. Really, anytime would be fine with me!
