Chicago or Bust!

This morning we headed to Chicago to meet up with Mom Allen and Aunt Michelle Hart!  They had been up there all week attending CHA- a scrapbooking convention.  Jared and I were a little worried about Tori and her potty training. So, we decided to stop every half an hour and let her try going potty- even though we knew it would take us forever to get to Chicago.  But, an automatic flushing toilet at our first stop completely scared Tori and she wouldn't even try to go the rest of the trip.  So, we will be holding off on potty training until we get back home- oh well!
Garrett, on the other hand, had a grand time on our drive!!!
In an effort to avoid toll roads, we hit awful traffic- it took so long to make it to our hotel!  Our trip finally came to an end and we soon met up with our waiting family!  Mom Allen had told us that we would be celebrating birthdays in Chicago- Jared's, Aunt Michelle's, and Tori's.  But we weren't expecting Christmas- there was a whole drawer of presents waiting for us!!! (I love the look on Tori's face!)
Tori loved all of her new books!
She and Aunt Michelle had fun checking out her new potty book!
Garrett loved eating and playing with his fun new toys!!!
Hurrah for cute new clothes!
Even better than clothes- reading new books with Grandma!!! (Although, I do love this outfit!)
Tori absolutely loved being thrown onto and then jumping on the bed! (Jared and Tori are both sporting new birthday outfits- don't they look so cute?!!)
After opening all the fabulous gifts, it was time for our little man to have some food- Grandma is an expert!!!
Grandma and Aunt Michelle sent Jared and I on a date while they babysat Garrett and Tori!  It was so nice to be out just the two of us!  It was wonderful to be able to really chat and it was so wonderful not having to cut up anyone's food except our own!  I love going on dates with my handsome husband- thanks so much Mom and Aunt Michelle!!!
Our last event of the day was to take Uncle Doug (he was also there for CHA) out for ice cream for his birthday!  Tori is living proof that a girl can never wear too many necklaces when going out for ice cream!
I loved that Garrett and Tori became fast friends with Aunt Michelle- so cute!!!
Tori and Grandma enjoying some delicious ice cream!  (Tori was so excited to have blue ice cream- she ate all of it!!!)
Happy Birthday, Uncle Doug!  We were so glad to be able to share a small part of it with you and catch up a bit!
As we were leaving Cold Stone, Tori walked out hand-in-hand with Uncle Doug- so stinking adorable!!!
Hurrah for a fabulous start to our Chicago trip- I'm sure there are many more adventures to come!!!

  1. If you keep post its in the diaper bag, then when you are out and see that there is an automatic toilet, put a post it over the sensor to keep it from flushing.
