This evening we attended an event at our zoo we have never been to before- it's called Zoolapalooza! Basically, the zoo is open late and they have a band playing all night. We were a little hesitant to go since it got up to 105 degrees today. But, we packed a ton of water, some cold wash clothes for helping us stay cool, the kids swim suits, and a picnic dinner and took our chances. I am so glad we did- it turned out to be so much fun!!!
We started out with the new Flights of Fancy bird exhibit! It was really neat and a little unnerving to have us and the birds in the same enclosure. Yep, there was no wire mesh stuff between us! Here are Tori and Jared checking out these beautiful birds!!!
Sorry about this crazy video. I was trying to capture Tori saying "flamingo" and so it is a bit all over the place. But I think we finally did get it!!!
Tori loved that the lion was right inside the fence- I don't think we have ever been this close to him!
The elephants are always a must see for Tori- she loves them!!!
Our next stop was the Oceans area so we could all cool off a bit! Check out this awesome picture of Garrett and a shark!!!
There are usually a ton of people in this area- it was so nice to basically have it all to ourselves! Tori and Garrett loved watching the sharks swimming by!

Our last area to visit was the splash pad. Every time we have been to the zoo, the splash pad has either been closed or it was a bit too cold. Not today- this was the perfect way to end our visit to the zoo!

Zoolapalooza was awesome- I'm so glad we braved the heat and checked it out! I can't wait until we can go again!!!
